Pinky the Pitbull, the next EBVB and, uh, bringing sexy back

We just got some great news from Donna at Bad Rap letting us know how they’re going to use the $1100 earned for them at the January East Bay Vegan Bakesale, and are so stoked to share the news! Looks like they’ve got a precious little girl named Pinky who’s in foster care right now and needs double-knee surgery. It’s a big, expensive surgery, but lucky for her, her friends from Bad Rap and the bakesale have conspired to make it happen! You can meet Pinky and read all about her adventures here at her blog. You can also see her, and the other great dogs at Bad Rap, on Bad Rap’s adoption page. And while you’re there, be sure not to miss who has an adoption pending! Right below Pinky on the page, it’s our friend from the last bakesale, Huckleberry! We’re so happy he’s found his home!

And while we’re talking about the East Bay Vegan Bakesale, let me take this moment to do our first official call for participants in the March bakesale! Our next bakesale will be Saturday, March 20th from 11am to 4pm in front of Issues! As always, we need bakers and volunteers, so please get in touch at ebveganbakesale@gmail.com if you’re interested, and be sure to spread the word! We’ll have a flyer for you shortly, so keep checking back.

Dinosaurs and valentines!

Remember that Vegan Outreach Valentine’s Day dance we kept bugging you about? Well we went with our hundreds of pieces of baklava and raspberry bars in hand and had a wonderful time! Seriously, we got to hang out with some rad vegans, eat delicious food, and I even won a raffle prize!

If weren’t able to make it, you should check out the recap on VegNews press pass! There was also a really cool vegan photographer there taking pictures of the whole event, so we may have to post some when we get them all sent to us.

Since the event we have been busy as ever baking and working.
Thankfully, we did get a chance to relax and hang out for a dear friends birthday. Check out these cupcakes Ashley whipped up!

Two ways to spend your weekend, PLUS FBB in the Huffington Post!

Lest you let this weekend’s events sneak up on you (I know lots of people are busy getting ready for Valentine’s Day/Chinese New Year/whatever else you like to do in mid-February), let us provide you with a reminder of what you should be doing this Friday and Saturday:

First, there’s still time to get your tickets to the Vegan Outreach Valentine’s dancing/drinking/speed dating bonanza this Friday!
For $50 you get Fat Bottom’s famous vegan baklava and raspberry bars, as well as treats by Sugar Beat Sweets, an open bar with beer from Lagunitas, all kinds of fun V-day activities, and a chance to win some seriously incredible raffle prizes! If that description isn’t enough to lure you to the event, maybe this Huffington Post article about the history and excellent work of Vegan Outreach will. Oh, also it talks a little about the V-day event, and mentions Fat Bottom Bakery (as well as our friend and event organizer Karine Brighten). Whew, ok, can’t get overexcited because we’re not done with the weekend’s events yet.
After Friday comes Saturday, bringing us another sure-to-be-amazing SF Vegan Bakesale! From 11am to 4pm in front of Ike’s Place in San Francisco, benefiting two truly deserving organizations: Cycles of Change and Harvest Home Sanctuary. Seriously, these bakesales are some of the most enjoyable events we’ve ever had the pleasure of participating in. Come out and buy some Fat Bottom treats! And, everything else. Including an Ike’s sandwich or two, because oh man, are those things delicious.

To sum up: Events! Huffington Post! Valentine’s day is coming! Color us delighted.
